PLM Fleet Supports CFBNJ, a member of Feeding America, with Volunteer Drive and Donation

Nov 29, 2023

Newark, NJ - November 21, 2023 – PLM Fleet, LLC, located in the state-of-the-art Fleet Solutions Center in Newark, NJ, volunteered and masse to support the local Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) on Tuesday, November 21. CFBNJ is a member of Feeding America®, a nationwide network of food banks, food pantries and local meal programs.

In addition to volunteering, PLM Fleet presented a $1,000 donation to CFBNJ. This contribution will go toward supporting  >the 530,000 people in CFBNJ’s 15-county service area who face hunger every day. Over 130,000 of them are children. Last year, the Food Bank distributed food for over 90 million meals (more than 108 million pounds).

Over 55 PLM employees volunteered at the CFBNJ Hillside, NJ Warehouse to help fight food insecurity. Their support included assembling emergency food boxes, packing bulk items into family-sized bags, and sorting and repacking food items.

Since the past summer, PLM Fleet has sent employees monthly to the CFBNJ Hillside location to volunteer. PLM began supporting the NJ Food Bank and Feeding America in 2018.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America®, is the leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state. Kathleen DiChiara started CFBNJ in the back of her station wagon in 1975. In 1982, she established CFBNJ as a nonprofit corporation with a staff of five in Newark. Over the years, the expansion to two warehouses and a fleet of trucks assisted in distributing food and groceries. Today, CFBNJ provides food for more than 90 million meals annually and provides wrap-around services like job training, SNAP outreach, nutrition education, and hygiene product distribution. The organization has a 285,000-square-foot warehouse in Hillside and a South Jersey location in Egg Harbor Township.
